Frequently Asked Questions

Trial Classes, Starting Late & Term Length

Can I deduct our first class from the term fees?

No, while many schools insist that you pay for a term's fees to try out a class, we want you to be able to try a class without committing to paying a whole term. We hope that your dancer will be happy with the class & will want to continue. But if they don't wish to continue, you haven't wasted a whole term's fees & you don't even have to pay for that class. If you do decide to continue, that first class will be included in your term fees.

We wish to start dancing with your school, however it's mid-way through the term. Do we have to pay a full term's fee?

No. If you wish to start dancing with Dance Max more than 3 weeks into the term, then we're happy to pro-rata the fees. The calculation is based on the first lesson you attend.

There seems to be a different number of lessons in each term. Why are the term fees the same regardless of the number of lessons?

For simplicity, we charge the same price for a given class each term. While terms vary between 8 & 11 weeks, we mostly operate 38 weeks per year. We could complicate things by charging different prices for each term, but the total amount you would pay each year would still be the same.

Missed Lessons & Timetable Changes

Missed Lessons

When a student misses a lesson during term, they are most welcome to attend a makeup lesson during that term, either the same type of lesson or a different type.

For example, a student misses a ballet lesson, they are most welcome to attend a ballet lesson of the same grade, or they could try another age-suitable lesson eg jazz, or contemporary.
Impact on Term Fees There is no change to term fees and you will be expected to pay for the whole term,
even if you don't attend a makeup class.

Student is going to miss a large part of the term

Where you know in advance that your dancer will be away for a block of 4 weeks or more, eg you are going on a lovely overseas holiday, then please get in touch so that we can make special arrangements for you.

Timetable Changes - Temporary

It may be necessary to hold a class at a different location or even a different time, either on a temporary or permanent basis. While every effort is made to minimise the impact of changes, they will happen from time to time. Where a student cannot attend their class at the changed time/location, they are welcome to makeup a class as per the missed lessons policy. Impact on Term Fees
There is no change to term fees and you will be expected to pay for the whole term,
even if you don't attend a makeup class.

Timetable Changes - Permanent

Where a timetable change is permanent & the student cannot attend at the new time/location, then please contact us so that a special arrangement can be made for you.
